Kyokushin Karate is a powerful martial art with very strong punching and kicking. Our kickboxing class will get you in shape and keep you motivated through a fast pace energetic program rooted in traditional Kyokushin techniques and fighting combinations.
Great for those looking for a more relaxed class for young and old allike! Katas (forms) are a system of techniques put together into a set pattern to hone ones mind and techniques through repetition. Kyokushin katas in particular focus heavily on basic techniques for practical application and training. Furthermore, more advance katas incorporate breathing exercises akin to Taichi to improve health as well as learn how to absorb and deliver powerful blows.
Unlike other forms of Karate, Kyokushin is Full Contact with continuous fighting. Rivaling Muay Thai in power, Kyokushin is bare knuckle allowing hand techniques to the body as well as kicks and knees to the legs, body and head. While sparring is conducted with padding and lighter contact for safety in the beginning, as karateka (karate practitioners) move through the ranks they will ultimately spar and compete with no padding in full contact matches if they wish and have achieved the appropriate rank.
"One becomes a beginner after one thousand days of training and an expert after ten thousand days of practice."
A combination of Kyokushin, Hapkido and wrestling, our unique self-defense program is a separate program partnered with Bucksmont Taekwondo. For more information and registration on this prgram please visit the BucksMont TKD website at:
Through rigorous conditioning exercises Kyokushin practitioners harden both their body and mind, learning how to deliver powerful blows to opponents. Kyokushin training is very hard work including various upper and lower body exercises, shadow boxing, pad drills and strength training to harden ones body and resolve.
